At Ryan Oliver Construction, loft conversions are truly our forte, thanks to our extensive expertise in carpentry and joinery, with over 20 years of valuable experience in the field.
The majority of loft conversions can be constructed under permitted development guidelines. However, specific rules apply to conservation areas and heritage buildings, which may necessitate special permissions.
Over the years, we have successfully undertaken various types of loft conversions, catering to diverse needs:
Roof Light / Velux Conversion:
This type of loft conversion seamlessly integrates into the existing roofline. By installing roof windows into strengthened existing roof rafters, we transform the loft space into a valuable room, bringing in abundant natural light and ventilation, resulting in a functional living space.
Dormer Conversion (with Flat or Pitched Roof):
Our dormer loft conversion involves adding a box-shaped structure with insulated timber walls onto a pitched roof. This not only expands headspace but also provides additional floor space. We offer numerous design options, including composite or cement board cladding, premium Cedar timber cladding for a modern look, cost-effective tantalised softwood cladding or UPVC cladding, or a more traditional look with vertically hung slate or plane tile.
Hip to Gable Conversions:
Hip to gable loft conversions are a popular choice as they convert the sloping side of the roof into a vertical gable wall, maximising usable floor space by creating headroom in previously sloped areas.
Built primarily at the rear of your property, Mansard conversions feature a horizontal roof with an almost vertical 71-degree-to-vertical back wall. This design creates an abundance of loft space with excellent head height. We specialise in using high-quality weldable single ply membranes like Sika Sarnafil for flat roofs, ensuring durability and longevity. Mansard conversions offer various facing options, including composite or cement board cladding, premium Cedar timber cladding,
slate, or vertically hung tiles, providing both modern and traditional looks. Cost-effective choices such as treated softwood cladding or UPVC cladding are also available.
Our commitment to customer satisfaction drives us to collaborate with you, discussing ideas and finding solutions that align with your preferences and budget.
